At « La confluence des Périgords »…
The crossroads of the four Périgords, equi- distant
from Bergerac and Sarlat, at the gateway of the prehistoric
valley is an ideal stopover to explore the major tourist
sites : Les Eyzies, Sarlat, Lascaux, Beynac… as
well as the stunning richness of the medieval inheritance
of the Pays des Bastides.
The church bells of Pontours, Badefols, Calès, and
Alles trace the curves of the Dordogne until it unites
with the Vezere river. At this point stands one of the
most beautiful villages in France, Limeuil, proud of its
medieval buildings, river beach, and creative craftsmen.

From Urval to Bouillac, the Bessede forest and its forest
trails present a high quality tourist attraction, which
has led to our area’s award of the label of ‘Outdoor
Holiday Area”.
Cadouin, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a stopping point
along the route to St Jacques de Compostelle. Its Cistercian
abbey has preserved all of its buildings, testimony to
both spiritual and architectural development since the
XIIth century.
In Le Buisson de Cadouin the Maxange caves are called
the caves of the stars: their unique concentration of
calcite concretions makes this place a wonder of nature.
Enjoy yourself the ‘Périgord way’,
by sampling its traditional gastronomic delights, appreciating
the historic sites and the gifts of its rivers.
